In case you’ve wondered why there aren’t as many posts lately it’s because I’m out playing with my kids. That’s what summer is for, right? Right. As much as I love ya’ll, blogs can wait; babies don’t keep. But because I love keeping you in the loop with our little fam during this INSANE summer:
The Littles are fierce adventurers. The day before the Bigs needed to be picked up at camp, we took a little mini-vacation.
This is a big deal for me. I don’t ever really go do adventurous things without Jason. One, because I hate to do big things without Jason. I hate that he misses them and I always feel guilty that he’s deployed, and we’re out playing. Sigh. But second? Second, I don’t usually do big, adventurous things because as book-smart as I may be, I tend to lack in the common sense department. No, really. Jason buffers a huge amount of the outside world for me.
But I promised myself this summer would be different. And so it is.
So we took off to Rochester, to the National Museum of Play!
Brotherly love!!! That’s right, they’re not fighting!!! Thank Goodness we have documentation, right?
Cool thing about the Museum of Play is that they give a $2 per person military discount! However, if you want to see the awesome butterflies? Well… That’s an extra $4 a person. Totally worth it. 😉
Chase was SO intent on scoping out EVERY butterfly!
WE’RE SO EXCITED!!!!
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Climbing the walls… kind of… yeah.
National Toy Hall of fame!
Brody with the original 1978 Star Wars Toys. We totally sent a pic immediately to Uncle Doug.
Brody won. Chase is not happy. Not at all.
Best part of this? Our Littles telling me that they didn’t understand this helicopter. Why? Because “Real helicopter pilots don’t sit next to each other. They go front, back!” Those are some Apache kiddos right there. LOL!
Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street? So after 3 1/2 hours of play… no really… 3 1/2 hours… We were done. I have to say, if you’re ever in upstate/western NY, and you want to run off some of your kiddos’ energy? This is the place to do it at!
We headed West to Buffalo, where we stayed in a hotel (where the Littles declared that this was the BEST DAY OF THEIR LIVES). Good thing about little kids? It’s easy to impress them.
Took them swimming up on the 11th floor!
They had a blast!!! I let them stay up late, which I never do, and they FINALLY crashed out. Thank goodness, because my awesome agent, Jamie, sent me the edits for my second novel right before we left for Rochester, and I had time to slam them out while they slept! Score 1 for mama! Oh, and the only argument that broke out all day between my littles???
While they were sleeping.
But in Chase’s defense… Brody’s a bed hog.
We woke up the next day took a little stop on the beaches of Lake Erie and then headed to Angola to pick up the Bigs. I have to say, as much as I love a little Little time, there’s nothing better than having all four of my boys together.
Until they start fighting. 😉
Oh, and no worries, the Bigs are headed to Hockey Camp next week, so there’s more adventures to be had!
